Author Of "Innocent In Guantanamo" Arrested in BELGIUM For Terror Recruiting
Guantanamo Bay detainee, and author of the book “Innocent In
Guantanamo,was arrested in Belgium for recruiting jihadists to strengthen al-Qeadas Nusra Front ranks in Syria.
Moussa Zemmouri, 37, a Moroccan national born in Antwerp,
was held in Guantanamo from 2001 until 2005 after he was arrested in
Pakistan, fleeing from an al Qaeda training camp in Khost, Afghanistan
during the initial U.S. bombing campaign at the onset of OEF. He was
said to have been a high-ranking member of the Theological Commission of
the Moroccan Islamic Fighting Group (MIFG).
Belgian police arrested Zemmouri along with 4 other terror suspects, including another former GITMO detainee. Belgian counterterrorism officials claimed the arrests have “dismantled a serious recruiting network for Syria.”
